Bob, ZL1RS, could manage a short visit to my home on 6 July 2006 when he flew from Geneva via Frankfurt to Sri Lanka. Sadly we had only a few hours but it was good to meet and also listen to him telling not just about ham radio but also about his work for the International Red Cross.

On 2 April 2009 the first German in space, Dr. Sigmund Jähn, spoke at a congress I had organised in Berlin.

On 3 April 2009 when waiting for my flight from Berlin to Cologne I met the former German Secretary of Foreign Affairs Hans-Dietrich Genscher. We had an interesting discussion about the quality of my pilot's case and about how he managed fighting the jet lags when he travelled around the world.
