After their 2009 activity to Sardinia Frank and Bernd had planned the 2010 EME DXpedition from San Marino. However, as soon as they learned of a Dutch group also preparing for that DXCC and being a little ahead re organisation of the activity, DH7FB and DF2ZC changed their plans and chose Jersey instead.
After extensive search on the web to find suitable locations with – as far as the pictures of the location show – good take-off to the moon directions they chose the Meadow View Appartment in St. Martin. When contacting the owners - the Vincenti family - the moon bounce plans were explained and the Vincentis confirmed not only antenna permission "we have a large garden" but also that there is always an unblocked view at the moon. The circumstances were made perfect by a free wifi connection at the site. As everybody knows this is not vital for the success of a dxpedition but can make things easier by daily suppling a list of stations worked and particularly reporting of what is currently going on at the DXpedition location, let alone to do some web surfing in periods of low acitivity.
On 19 April Frank travelled from Berlin to DF2ZC's place and late that evening they both left for St Malo in Northern France where the ferry was leaving early on the 20th. Around 9 am local the team arrived in St. Peter Port, Jersey and continued the travel to St. Martin in the North-East part of the island. On the way to there they stopped by at a restaurant at the seaside and had - as the waitress called it - an "English breakfast, the most probable best breakfast of the world". Well...it depends on what you like...unlike Frank Bernd is a friend of baked beans for breakfast.
Soon after the team arrived at the site where it was welcomed and shown the meadow with a lot of space for setting up the aerials. Which they did without hesitation started because moon rise was soon to come. At 1349Z the first QSO was complete.
A word on Jersey and the Meadow view appartments: This island is really a nice place to be and the appartment is a perfect location. We very much regretted not having time for doing the usual tourist activities. Only the last days of our stay we travelled to St. Peter and had lunch in a very good seafood restaurant. The other times we were regular guest in the local pub which also was not bad at all. We MUST come back there without ham radio. And then we sure will book again with the Vincentis as the appartment is highly recommended! We are very grateful to the Vincenti family for renting it to us:

We prefer direct QSLs if you want to have your card soon. Via buro it might take much longer up to two years.
Direct QSLs with SASE or SAE plus 1 $ within EU, 2 $ outside EU for postage, please. Direct QSLs without sufficient return postage will be answered via buro only.
Of course, we are happy about any financial support as small as it might be but nothing is asked for and nothing is expected. I repeat: We do not expect anything more than a return envelope plus sufficient postage/$s. If you like you can fund future activities but we don't ask for it.
